CloudWalk Featured in Atlantico Report with "World-Class Product"
Fintech owner of InfinitePay cited for accelerated expansion by “LatAm Does It Best,” an annual report on digital transformation in Latin America, naming it one of four companies in the region with the potential to become global technology giants.
São Paulo, September 2024 – CloudWalk was spotlighted in LatAm Does It Best, the annual Digital Transformation Report for Latin America by Atlantico Venture Capital. The report positions CloudWalk among the top four companies in the region with the greatest potential to become global tech giants.
At this year’s LAVCA (Association for Private Capital Investment in Latin America) annual conference in New York, Julio Vasconcellos, founder of Atlantico, delivered his talk on "The Case for Venture in Latin America." The report highlighted CloudWalk’s recent expansion into the U.S., noting its “World-Class Product” as a core competitive advantage. This marks the company's first step toward becoming a global payment network.
Key points from Vasconcellos' pitch included:
- Resilience through Adversity: Successful Latin American companies emerged in challenging business environments, making them stronger and more resilient by overcoming issues like tax complexity, high capital costs, limited infrastructure, and talent scarcity.
- Sustained Success: Companies thriving in Latin America tend to maintain stronger, more resilient market capitalizations and achieve higher market shares and returns than comparable U.S. peers.
- Global Expansion of LatAm Unicorns: Latin American unicorns, including CloudWalk in payments, have shown traction on the global stage, with others like Wildlife Studios in gaming, Wellhub in wellness, and Hotmart in digital content also leading internationally.
- Tech Concentration: Tech shows a concentration of value and returns in winners. Combining sectoral tech concentration with Latin American geographic concentration amplifies opportunities, exemplified by the "Triumphant Three": Mercado Libre (commerce, finance, logistics, ads), Nubank (digital banking, financial services), and iFood (food delivery, restaurant ecosystem).
- Liquidity and Exits: Latin America has produced more billion-dollar exits and created greater market cap than other emerging economies, despite historically lower venture capital levels.
- Strong Venture Performance: LatAm venture funds have outperformed global venture benchmarks, with significant representation in the top global quintiles and quartiles, underscoring LatAm’s unique investment potential.
- Venture Capital Returns: Investments in venture capital have outperformed traditional high-yield options, the local stock market, and the S&P500.
Luis Silva, CEO and founder of CloudWalk, remarked on the achievement, stating: “This recognition is a testament to the incredible work our team has put in over the years, and it reaffirms our commitment to supporting micro, small, and medium-sized businesses across Brazil. We’re proud to bring a world-class product to the market, setting new standards for what’s possible in financial technology.”
